Laws Authentication Law

Section 1
1. Citation.
This Law may be cited as the Laws Authentication Law.
Section 2
2. Printing of Laws.
Every Law to be enacted shall, when passed by the Delta House’ of Assembly be
immediately set lip in fair and legible type by the Government Printer, and an impression
in quadruplicate, from the type so set up, on vellum or on paper of an enduring quality,
shall be struck off by him.
Section 3
3. Authentication.
The said printed impression shall be carefully compared by the Clerk of the House with the
Bill which has been passed by the said Delta House of Assembly and on being found by
him to be correct, the said printed copies of the said Bill shall be authenticated by him in
Form A in the Schedule, and presented to the Governor for assent.

Section 4
4. Recording of Governor’s assent.
(1)
When the Governor has assented to any Bill so passed such assent shall be recorded on
the authenticated printed copies in the Form B in the Schedule.

(2) Of such copies one shall be deposited with the Clerk of the Regional Legislature.
Section 5
5. Enrolment of Laws.
The Governor shall transmit to the Chief Judge, to be enrolled in the High Court, a
transcript, authenticated under the Public Seal of the State and by his own signature of
every Law assented to by him.
Section 6
6. Sealing and dating of Laws.
(1) The Governor shall cause the original copies of every Law to be sealed with the
Public Seal of the State and the date on which the Law is assented to by the Governor to
be endorsed thereon.
(2) The Laws of each year shall be distinguished by consecutive numbers, beginning in
each year with the number one.
(3) Laws passed by the Delta House of Assembly and assented to by the Governor, shall
be dated as of the day on which the assent of the Governor was given, but whatever that
day may be, shall be numbered as of the year in which they are passed.
Section 7
7. Copies of Laws promulgated.
The copies of every Law promulgated in the first instance shall be impressions from the
same form as the deposited copy.
Section 8
8. Publication in State Gazette.
A Law assented to by the Governor shall be published in the State Gazette and shall come
into operation on the date of such publication, or, if it shall be enacted either in the Law or
in some other enactment, (including any enactment in force on the appointed day), that it
shall come into operation on some other date, on that date.
